“What if they knew how I’m really doing?”

You’re not the first ministry leader to think it. The demands of ministry can be overwhelming. You can easily lose your rhythm of retreat. When there's no space to rest, reflect, or hear from God, it’s easy to feel stuck and disconnected. This can result in:

  • Losing touch with God, your authentic self, and others

  • Personal and ministry burnout

  • Difficulty moving through grief or transitions

Every ministry leader needs unhurried space with God and the opportunity to rest in new rhythms of grace.

Welcome to a sacred space for retreat with the Triune God.

At The Springs, we understand the need for deep rest. With decades of combined church and nonprofit ministry experience, we know—all too well—the need for ongoing spiritual retreat, the pain of burnout, spiritual confusion, and disconnection. We created The Springs to be the sacred space we wish we had in our own seasons of unrest.

Since 2010, our team of seasoned ministry leaders has created spaces for thousands of ministry staff and volunteers to experience rest, reconnect with God, and rediscover direction for sustainable life and ministry.

Receive guidance from our Spiritual Directors.

One of the unique aspects of The Springs is the opportunity to receive guidance from one of our staff who have certificates in spiritual direction.

You can request to meet with one of our Spiritual Directors in a safe, sacred space. With compassionate presence, gentle reflections and questions, your director will help you listen for God’s voice and recognize His movement in your life.

Spiritual direction is a grace-filled relationship that invites you to slow down, listen deeply, and become more aware of God’s presence in your life.

All our spiritual directors have a certificate in spiritual direction and have years of diverse experience.

You can request a spiritual direction session when you submit a booking request. Upon confirmation you will receive an email to schedule your session during your retreat.

If you have never experienced spiritual direction, your first session is our free gift to you. Future sessions can be paid directly to the spiritual director.

  • A spiritual director walks with you—gently guiding you as you explore your faith, name what’s stirring in your soul, and make space for the Spirit to do His work. Through prayerful conversation, your director helps you:

    • Deepen your intimacy with God

    • Notice His presence in everyday life

    • Navigate seasons of grief, doubt, or transition

    • Bring your honest questions, feelings, and longings before Him

At its heart, spiritual direction isn’t about being “directed”—it’s about being accompanied. The true Director is the Holy Spirit; the human director simply creates space and asks thoughtful questions to help you notice God’s movement in and around you.

A typical session lasts about an hour and begins and ends with prayer. You are invited to bring whatever is on your heart—questions, experiences, burdens, or areas of discernment. Your spiritual director will listen attentively, reflect with you, and help you notice how God might be inviting you to respond. Spiritual direction is offered during your retreats on a first-come, first-served basis, by appointment only.

  • Spiritual Direction holds the conviction that all human experience is of interest to God and that God is somehow present with all experience. A spiritual director will listen to a person with empathy and support, inviting people to bring their experiences to God in order to become more aware of Christ’s presence within them. It is “journey” focused.

Counseling or therapy is problem-focused and solution-driven. The counselor/therapist is there to offer options or therapies for the individual to help relieve the problem the individual is experiencing in their exterior relationships, and their interior/emotional world.

Mentoring is learning focused. There is a teacher and a student, and the student desires to learn something from the teacher. The teaching can be formal or informal, but the goal is to gain new skills or understanding through learning. “Discipleship” is a kind of mentoring, but it is spiritually based, training others in the basics of the Christian life.
