LENT is a double journey -- a journey together (and alone) toward the mystery of God's redemptive embrace in the death and resurrection of Christ. At the same time, it is a journey into the depths of our humanity. Don E. Saliers
During this Lenten season we invite you to journey to The Springs and enter a sacred space of listening to God and responding to Him. Choose now to create time and space away from your normal routines for this journey with God. We will be available to help you make this a guided retreat and offer spiritual direction upon request.*
The heart of Lent is "Remember that you are dust and to dust you shall return." The work of this season is to humble ourselves before the eternal God who created us and has provided a way home for us in the life and work and passion of Jesus the Christ. Bobby Gross in his book, Living The Christian Year, says to think of Lent ..."as a sojourn and a journey. We have two opportunities to identify with Jesus, one at the start of his public ministry and one near the end. The sojourn causes us to look inward and acknowledge our human and spiritual vulnerabilities; the journey bids us look outward and weigh the costs of discipleship. Both involve turning."
*If you are interested in receiving spiritual direction during your retreat, please indicate this on your registration request. If Sibyl Towner or Linda Holmes are available they will make every effort to meet with you. The fee for spiritual direction will be agreed upon between you and the Director.
