An Invitation to quiet the soul in presence of God
Linda Holmes
"Be still and know that I am God" (Psalm 46:10) is an invitation to stop and connect with God.
Consider repeating this verse slowly, pausing after each line:
Be still and know that I am God.
Be still and know that I am.
Be still and know.
Be still.
Be.
Let being still and present to our ever-present God be enough. Rest into the silence. Listen. Linger.

Labyrinth: a quiet, listening pilgrimage with God
He guides us in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Psalm 23:3 Come and take a walk with Jesus to the upper meadow where we have a labyrinth where you can encounter God alone or with others. God walked and talked with Adam and Eve in the garden. Jesus invited His friends to come walk and talk with Him. This same invitation is for you today. “Come, take a walk with Jesus”. Follow Him as He walked away from the demands of everyday life to be alone with the Father, seeking His presence and to be refreshed and encouraged. Come. Walk. Listen. Respond. Rest. Then return to community life as Jesus did, better able to love and serve others. The labyrinth is a metaphor for the journey. The labyrinth has been used as a place for prayer, meditative walking, contemplation, inspiration, and renewal by many religious cultures for thousands of years. Different than a maze, which is designed to puzzle and confuse, the labyrinth is one path with many turns, gently leading one on a circular journey to the center and back. We are all on a journey, moving at different speeds, from different places, for different reasons, and with different needs. When walking the labyrinth you are free from distractions to notice the movement of God within, while moving toward a resting place with Him, internally as well as physically. Sights, sounds, songs, scriptures may come to you - receive them, sit with them. Stones may be placed in the dish while you pray or carried out with you as a reminder of His words to you. |
